The Green Party’s first MP Caroline Lucas has suffered huge embarrassment today after being issued with a 6 litre armoured Jaguar which does 8 miles to the gallon. Under Parliamentary rules as the ‘leader’ of her party in the Commons she qualifies for the car and driver for security reasons. Lucas had planned to cycle to the house in line with her party’s policies but has been told that the car will have to follow behind anyway (in the same way David Cameron’s does).
