Thought I’d post this in here as if I post it on the article where comment/tag resides then it’ll keep getting tediously bumped in and around new material and that’s good for anyone.
Anyway, first off, not sure what the ‘derivative’ remark refers to. If it’s the fact that a similar article has already covered this angle then, sorry, I didn’t know that. Otherwise, I obviously wouldn’t have written this. I certainly wasn’t trying to plagiarise anyone’s work.
If, however, it’s some kind of stylistic criticism then I’d recommend whoever created the tag take a long hard look at his or hers own work – and all the work on this site. It’s all derivative; we’re working to a format here. Take Ludicity’s homeopathic bomb piece. That’s about as derivative as you can get – it simply slams two concepts together and then explores the consequences by expanding into the absurd. But then that’s not the point – it’s a very funny piece of writing. Who here honestly thinks they’re breaking new ground in satire here?
Secondly, dull? Fair enough, that’s subjective. I thought there were enough funny lines and angles in there to keep it going but am certainly not precious.
Thirdly, care to own up? I promise I won’t hold it against you and 1-star everything you write in future, unlike some other pathetic and infantile contributors on here.
