Newly released extracts from the final diary of legendary British explorer Captain Scott have revealed how the explorer questioned the decision not to carry more frozen foodstuffs on his ill-fated expedition.
Clearly lucid when written, the intrepid explorer described a meal on the evening of 26th March "We have never tasted such freshness. It is as if the peas had been picked and frozen within two hours, locking in the flavour and goodness and as sweet as the moment when the pod went pop and commenting that the lattice shaped potato offering was 'waffley versatile"
