Former child actress and Gary Glitter favourite Donna Air appeared in court charged with duping customers into believing she was a fake low cost airline. Ms Air curely exploted her native north eastern breathern by offering them cheap flights from Newcastle to exotic locations including Greece, Spain, Turkey and Whitley Bay, with the lure of a free Kebabs and Newky Brown as in flight catering.
The authorities became suspicious when passengers booking through the airline's website incurred no extra charges for things such as seats, luggage or paying for the flight, thses facts along with the realisation that "Donnair" had no actual aeroplanes prompted officials to act quickly, grounding Ms Air and making her stay in her room. Officals were keen to point out the Donnair is in no way connected with Dan Air, although why the were at pians to do this is unclear as Dan Air ceased to exist when bought out by British Airways in 1992.
