Parliament was today reeling from the news that 12 Lib Dem MPs, including some from the cabinet, had resigned from the House of Commons after hearing that their syndicate had won the Euromillions lottery. One MP even walked out mid-speech, telling David Cameron that he could "stuff the Health and Social Care Bill where the sun don't shine".
In a tragic twist, a previous member of the syndicate (named locally as Nick Clegg) had dropped out a few weeks earlier because he had been advised by a friend to put the stake money into a pension fund instead.
