Despite a very specifically worded article in the South Devon Herald advising him that if he only saw one film that year, that it should be the J.J.Abrams directed Summer release, "Super 8", local pipe salesman, George Lawrence is now not so sure he made the right choice.
"The reviewer seemed so certain, so compelling. He even cited hard data in the article to back up his assertion, facts like it was 'the most talked-about film of the year', and that suspense 'arrived in bucketloads'. As a man who only sees one film a year, objective statistics like that are vital."
However his suspicions were raised when the Oscars last month seemed to contradict the unnamed author of the review, with no mention of the film or anyone connected with this story of an alien monster set loose in a small Ohio town.
