Welcome to the new chatroom. Obviously we are hoping to decorate it in here - get some pictures up on the wall etc, but thought you might like a nose around before the builders left...

If I had more time (i.e. wasn't so lazy) I would have had this sorted ages ago, along with the daily email which disappeared at the time of the upgrade... But anyway this is a step along the way to that. But we need to test out this chat room with a few users before it replaces the old one...

So what shall we talk about? Would you like to meet up again as writers of the month, or was Mary's open to all thing at the Chandos the way forward?

Yeah... this place will look quite nice with a lick of paint - her's a bottle of wine left over from Christmas as a housewarming present.

As for meeting up - getting a few more arses over to Bournemouth would be a start! Other than that, I'm happy with the 'come one, come all' approach - being elitist is SO common these days.

Perhaps a location somewhere more central than the Smoke?

Maybe - how far is that from Hereford? Less than 10 miles then count me in!
(Hmm.. maybe my wife is right - I am too much of a country mouse. I mean, she's lived as far away as Nantwich!)

I'd suggest somewhere central - Birmingham perhaps.

I believe in these modern times, the steam railway has finally reached parts of London, opening up opportunities for people from the capital to visit the provinces and laugh at the locals, before escaping back to Islington.

By the way, not the cunning name change. Dropped the 'aj' to appear more adult.

More central for me, stunts and jammy would be, at the furthest, Newcastle, with Edinburgh being better still. Not that I expect anybody would travel that far north without a Sherpa.

I'd heard rumours that such a place existed, but I never believed them.

Geordie Central would be a great night out as well, with at least one person guaranteed to get their head kicked in after an off-colour remark about the accent!

I've had many a night out in the Toon, and at no point have I or any of my friends had their heads kicked in. But maybe that's because the Scots and the Geordies are spiritual kin. Hmmm, so that's why all the southern softies are scared to come up?

I like the Chandos- I was there a couple of weeks ago before going to the Ballet at the Collllossseum (which was smaller than I thought it was). Many years ago it was the first place I went for a drink when I moved to London.

Sadly work is being dire at the moment, which is stoopping me from submitting anything 'cept barely articulated shrieks of rage.

Aw, good news stunts. I was wondering about Albert. Nice to hear that he's settling in, how's his seperation anxiety? I know he and his wife were married a long time, but he had to let go at some point. Have you managed to get rid of the smell, and what did you eventually do with her rotting corpse? Why he rejected the teddy bear you substituted for her is beyond me. Do remind him about his appointment with the Chiropodist though, those toe-nails are going to need an angle grinder if he lets them get out of hand again.

Anyway, lovely to see you here. I notice that old slapper Evans is being disparaging about our locale again, but not to worry, we can laugh when she turns up on Jeremy Kyle with her other half demanding a DNA test. Again.

And in true Big Brother style, I'll meet you in the garden to bitch about the rest of the inmates in 5.

(BTW, that deliberate mistake at the top was designed to set you off again.)

What about a Southern get together? For some of us London is Up North, hell, for me Exeter is too. Are there any other extremely South-Western biscuits or am I the only one who spends their days chewing a bit of grass, sitting on a gate and hurling abuse at in-comers and second home owners?

I have dual nationality, working in London BUT back in Devon as quickly as I can manage when the office hooter goes for the weekend.

Mr Stanton, I am spending Valentine's Day watching rugby with hubby and son, having already prepared our "romantic" meal for three, and even rustled up some soup. And rest assured that I haven't done anything reckless like putting the heating on. I'm sitting here with two jumpers and a gilet on.

I've been making love to the brambles in our "orchard" (that's a grand name for a scratty bit of weed-covered rocky hillside that's so steep even the fox wears crampons). One enormous bonfire later I now am knackered, covered in scratches and smell like an old kipper. I just hope Mr Sauce appreciates he can now inspect his damsons without being importuned by brambles.
