Startling research shows that since major networks have been delivering the TV news with presenters standing up, things have become significantly worse.
Researchers at the University of Reading have completed a two year study and their findings make interesting reading. Professor Geoffrey Chambers comments. "Just look at the news from years ago. All sorts of good things were happening. The Queen's jubilee, the end of world war two and England winning the world cup.
But look at it now! Murders everywhere, drug crime and MPs' expense scandals. It's just terrible, it's depressing the public and it's all directly linked to the presenters standing up when broadcasting. We have the proof".
Professor Chambers will present his findings to a BBC /ITV / Sky symposium later this month, when it's hoped that his report will see news presenters everywhere scurrying back behind their desks in an effort to get the country smiling again.
