"We had just the darndest time together, I swear," said President Obama enthusiastically as he waved farewell yesterday to his new best friend, Britain's PM.
Standing on Washington Airport's runway he waxed lyrical about the happy time the pair had enjoyed this week.
"Dave's crazy. At the basketball court he said Is this like Fives? - whatever the hell Fives is! We had hot dogs and ice cream and then raced each other back to the White House where we spent four hours in the romper room doing just what we tootin' well liked. The girls were off at a nursery school or some such.
"Dave speaks so weird. He says things like Oik and Not quite out of the top drawer! And will someone tell me what a minor public school is 'cos I'd REALLY like to know?
"I'm gonna miss him but I'll see him again next year in England and he says he'll organise a good hard ride for me at his friend Rebekah's place in Oxfordshire. She sounds like a real nice person."
