I’ve noticed that ever more websites are using those ‘scrolling advert’ things at the edges of the webpage - the sort that scrolls down so the user can never be free of them. Do any of you tech-savvy people know how to get rid of them?

There's one on this page claiming you can 'win a kiddy car seat'. I'd have thought people with children and cars would already have one? It's quite common, what with it being a legal requirement.
Win some toilet roll! Win a pair of dark socks in your size! Win a key to your existing front door!

I don't have any.
Don't know if it's because I'm on a Mac, using Firefox or just downright unpopular.
Whichever it is, I'm quite happy to be unmolested by ads stalking me.Posted 1 year ago # -
Why not Safari Jeni? v5.0.6 is great.

I use Safari as well. But if you go to, say, the Daily Mash website, you’ll find an example of what I mean.

No reason Scroat, just like the layout of Firefox, and have had no reason to change.

Actually, just downloaded the latest version of safari and the ads have disappeared. Hooray for Apple.
The one feature of Safari that really swings it for me is the ‘reader’ function - you can read an article without any ads at all. Brilliant.Posted 1 year ago # -
I haven't seen an advert for ages, well not since I changed to Firefox. Beginning to miss them. On the other hand I haven't caught any nasty viruses for a while either.
