Yeah, a bit too obscure in hindsight. Not everyone's world revolves around football.
Thaksin Shinawatra passed the Football Association's 'fit and proper person test' to become Man City's owner a few years ago, despite widespread allegations of corruption and human rights abuse while Prime Minister of his native Thailand.
Glasgow Rangers former owner Craig Whyte failed the same test for alleged financial jiggery-pokery when the true state of Rangers' debts became clear.
So, even though I was quite pleased with it at the time, on the basis that a joke's not funny if you have to explain it, I concede this one is a stinker.
