   I live in Auckland and we've got our big comedy festival (every April/May) coming up. A lot of the acts are international, quite a few from the UK as you'd expect, and I was wondering if you lot could point me towards which ones I should see?

   Commenting on those I've recently seen live (rather than on some diluted TV show) I can recommend Milton Jones, Craig Campbell and Terry Alderton.

   All have played our local comedy club which is hosted by the afore mentioned Mr Campbell (a Canadian residing in rural Devon). Milton Jones is best known of the bunch and if you like clever one liners, then he's your man.

   Terry Alderton is best described as eccentric, but when I saw him he was brilliant. Suspect a smaller club is best suited to his style. He spent a lot of the time with his back to the audience ...

   Stephen K Amos is ok-ish. If you like comedy putting a twist on racism then he's ok, but I'd agree that Milton Jones is good. He's quite dead-pan, very sharp and often his one-liners come from nowhere.

   Also putting in a vote for Milton Jones and Stephen K Amos.

   The best of the bunch seem to be from Oz and New Zealand. I'd be at Axis of Awesome, Cal Wilson and Rhys Derby like a shot.

   Thanks for the tips. I actually saw Alderton at last year's festival and he was astonishing, absolutely mad.

   Have to agree with the above. If you can only make one show, it has to be Milton Jones. Some peoples one liners are simply puns and evoke a quick giggle/groan but you get worn down by the barrage. Milton's are very slow paced and incredibly clever, yet still delightfully silly. Listen out for how many Grandfathers he has!

   Apart from him, I'd also watch Rhys Darby or Axis of Awesome. Have fun!

   I think I saw The Boy with Tape on his Face on the Royal Variety Show. I also think I remember laughing. Very odd but quite different. Lokked like a student review act but must be pretty good to continue around the world.

   For the past 20 years a gang of us have been going to the Larmer Tree festival down here in Dorset. It started out as a tiny boutique festival but has grown. It now has a pretty impressive comedy line up too. This year's headliner is Tim Minchin. As I will probably have to miss most I may try to dig up the line up for your expert perusal.
