Any of the Pickwick Records Top of the Pops series you know the ones with cover versions rather than the original tracks

Never mind the compilations : "Transformer" by Lou Reed, plus small amounts of, erm, substances ..

Why not make them all look like they're late on the scene, and turn up with a wax cylinder recording of Marconi counting to 5? Or take a rock, and hit it with a big bone? Raaaadical man. Like, old school.

I can lend you lots of Duran Duran, U2 and Soft Cell on vinyl...
Might be a bit of a minter though.Posted 1 year ago # -

If that doesn't work - time to go home.Posted 1 year ago # -
God! Even with a lot of drinking, that sounds boring. Hint: vinyl is just a medium for recording something. It's not the song. And, please don't tell me "no, you don't understand!" Blah, blah, blah. Invite a couple of Eastern European hookers. That's the only chance.

Rikkor .....no shit? Liking the hooker idea though.
Bit of Northern should go down well too.
Jen .. only if you deliver them in Cathy McCabe's carrier bag.Posted 1 year ago # -
Dinnae Hoops. Brings back too many memories!!
She was our Saturday night piano player when I worked in a no longer-there local wine bar.
We used to run a sweepy on her playlist.Posted 1 year ago # -
I think you've got hold of the wrong end of the stick, Hoops. You've supposed to wear the vinyl at these parties.

The Nowthat'swhatICallMusic comps were great until:
i) they dropped the 'that'swhatIetc' from the end
ii) they dropped the pig and the chicken from the cover and ad campaigins. Before then you're in Howard Jones heaven/hell

I was thinking "Best of the Monkees" album (very in vogue at the moment), and actually you would only have to take the hole from the middle.

Wait until about 10.30pm then put on "Temple of Love" by the Sisters of Mercy, then play a game of "spot the old goth". They won't be able to help themselves, especially if you back it up with "Love will Tear us apart" by Joy Division. Move away from the dance floor and keep hold of your drink though, just one middle aged ex-got can flail around alarmingly.

If I was born in '33, I'd have been 45 in '78. Is this a record?

Either Pornography by The Cure or Swordfishtrombones by Tom Waits should be just the ticket.

Anything from the Two Tone era. I was recently leaping around at a 40th Birthday Party to "One Step Beyond" by Madness. I'm sure the song is longer than it used to be! It's fun pogoing now as when you go up, bits of you are still coming down from the last time.

der-nerr-nerrrr, de-ne-ne-ne-nerrr will be in my head for the entire day

Why Dukey - It was a pleasure. If you must have a song lodged in your head all day, there are far worse options available.
The other day, I was stuck with "The Only Way is Up" by Yazz. By teatime, I wanted rip my own skull open to press the metaphorical pause button.

Hey Hoops, sounds like a posh party. What if you want to bring only two or three?
