A man has woken up from a normal night’s sleep, to be greeted with a fully operational Costa Coffee café in his bedroom. He believes that the ‘pop-up café’ has appeared because of a letter he has written to the company's customer service department.
‘I wrote to the company 2 weeks ago after I noticed that everywhere I went, there was a Costa’, James Hendred, the new franchisee told us. ‘They are in every street in town, at the local Odeon, and yesterday, from the machine at the petrol station, I managed to fill my car’s fuel tank with 20 litres of Decaffeinated latte. The cost of that alone was £5 a litre.’
He finished the letter with the rhetorical question ‘Why don’t you just build one in my house?’. ‘What a great idea we thought, not even Starbucks have ventured into the domestic market or as we call it project ‘Move Out Costa’s Here Also (MOCHA)’’ Project Manager Constance Lee-Buzin told us. ‘MOCHA gives us the chance capture the ‘just woken up’, ‘can’t get to sleep’ and ‘not tonight, I’ve a headache’ markets.
When asked about the privacy issue, Mrs Lee-Buzin, just laughed and walked away, However Costa Coffee later released a statement saying ‘Our privacy policy was kindly written by Google’s lawyers. You agreed to us opening a franchise in your bedroom when you brought that cappuccino in 2007.’
