A referee expressed disbelief after a footballer admitted his tackle was a little out of order and that the referee had made a "fair call" by reprimanding the footballer and giving him a yellow card.
"I immediately blew my whistle and started writing something pointless in my notepad to distract myself from the abuse I presumed he was giving me - I actually looked at him and said 'I'm sorry, the decision is final' before I realised he was actually agreeing with me and recommending a yellow card."
Spectators were also shocked to see the footballer turn to the opponent he had just tackle, help him to his feet and apologise, stating "sorry mate, I misjudged that one". Sources close to the player have revealed he intends on shaking the opponents hand next time they play.
John Terry has commented "I think he needs to be careful with his actions and it really brings the game into disrepute, luckily he's white" before reiterating "no no, I said luckily he's tight? Or right? Ah, what does it matter, I'm not captain any more..."
