Standard & Poor’s ratings rating has been downgraded by Moody’s in what commentators are calling the ‘inter-rating agencies rating stars war’. S&P’s ratings were previously 5-star calibre but Moody’s say they now rate them at 4 stars, putting them level with Moody’s. The quality of Fitch Ratings’ ratings has at the same time gone up a notch; also putting them level with Moody’s.
‘Rating rating agencies’ ratings is a tricky business,’ said ratings agencies ratings analysist Ray Ting.
