Staff at DFS Wiltshire were stunned today when a sixty year old man walked into their store and bought a chair which was not on sale. The staff were busy taking down some signs on Monday and replacing them for the “Its a Tuesday- hence low prices sale”. This customer reportedly walked in and bought a chair and took it to the checkout where a trainee member put the sale through. A staff member raised the alarm later as he ran out of places to put down the “marked down “ sign.
DFS in a statement said It is certainly unfortunate that a valued customer had to pay full prices as we would like to offer all customers best value for money. Our prices are constantly adjusted to reflect market conditions and we believe that our sale prices are a true reflection of the market where they should be sold. We would therefore request the gentleman who bought the chair to return it and buy this on sale and get five years interest free credit as well. We would need to adjust the price slightly as well. This may be slightly over the price paid but would be in the best interest of the customer.
DFS further added that all trainee staff are further retrained on their first day induction to prevent such unfortunate incidents from happening.
