Congratulations to Skylarking who wins the January Writer of the Month award for his story 'Waiting For Godot for Wii breaks first-week sales record'. Although the piece was originally published in January 2011, it appeared in the 'From the Archives' slot last month and was NewsBiscuit's most-read story in January. His prize is a turnip, a new hat and a NewsBiscuit mug. He just needs to wait in for delivery, but Parcelforce couldn't be any more specific than 8am to 6pm, and they forgot to say which day.
Honourable mentions also to ianslat ('Scotland to be released on compassionate grounds'), Vertically Challenged Giant ('Worrall Thompson produces seven-course banquet for £5 on Ready Steady Cook' and 'UK's two billion hours of unpaid overtime balanced out by people doing sod all') and Perks ('Homeopath to start offering assisted-suicide remedy') whose stories made up the remainder of January's top five. Between them they get to share the points on Chris Huhne's driving licence.
Many thanks to all who contributed to NewsBiscuit during January. We understand Fabio Capello has been watching the Writers' Room closely, so who knows - perhaps one lucky NewsBiscuit contributor will get the chance to be their country's next racist adulterer.
