For years, Laser eye surgery has been a medical fact of life. Simple, effective, routine and instant. Dr Gary Spring is a pioneer who has earned millions from its widespread use . But yesterday he rebutted criticism of a claim that laser nose surgery is just as good. “Some in the medical profession have falsely accused me of lowering my sights from laser eye procedure to nose work” he told a press conference.
In 2010, Dr Spring, whose Newcastle company Y-Eye is said to be worth £27 million, appointed Dr Gillian James as it’s chief nasal officer. She, it’s claimed, targeted the wealthiest clients undergoing eye treatment and sold them discounted nasal laser therapy. “Essentially, I’ve been accused of picking the noses of those best equipped to pay most,” Dr James told the same conference. “This is simply not true. We’ve been running nose clinics for the NHS for eighteen months. I’ve got a list of patients willing to endorse the treatment. Feel free to ask them whether they smell better or not.”
