A fitness gym in Doncaster which used the slogan 'Barry's - More Than Just A Gym' had been forced to concede that a gym is exactly what it is.
The admission came after Doncaster resident Ron Troves joined the gym hoping to find facilities other than those traditionally associated with gymnasiums. "The last thing I wanted was weights and running machines and all that malarkey, but it turned out all they've got is gym equipment."
A spokesman for Barry's - Barry - said that the gym "was conceived as a place where people could chat, mingle, make new friends over a coffee or glass of wine, catch up on emails or watch the latest movies in a private cinema." However, it soon became apparent that people just wanted the gym part of it "although there was nothing to stop them chatting if they wanted to."
That wasn't enough for local trading standards officers, who have forced Barry to adopt the slogan 'Barry's - just a gym, OK?'
