A shopkeeper in Greater Manchester has hit on a money making scheme to get rid of out of date goods by repositioning them in the health and beauty section.
Mr. Roger Gill of Gill’s Stores in Salford said the idea first came to him one morning while he was in the bathroom. The idea struck him again half an hour later and then every hour for the rest of the day. “By six-o-clock I was weak and shaking. I decided to weigh myself and realised then that I had the makings of a great product range” he told The Grocer magazine, adding, “mind you, I felt like the world had fallen out of my bottom!”
“The first weeks of January see a huge uplift in the sales of slimming aids as well as an increase in the amount of out of date food. Putting the two together was obvious.”
Instead of marking pork pies down to 20p when they have a day to go, Roger now keeps them for an extra week and charges customers £28 for his special weight loss plan.
“I couldn’t have got away with it a year ago but now we have loads of people off of the telly up here and they’ll do owt to get rid of the turkey tyres”.
He went on to explain that the rotisserie cooked chicken did have a high wastage, but by failing to cook them thoroughly his customers are able to shed up to a stone in just three days of intensive care.
Mr. Gill is currently looking for investment and PR expertise to help him develop the idea. Early indications showed a less than positive public response to the self-penned slogan “Shit yerself thin”.

If people have no problems with injecting botulism, then why worry about digesting some salmonella, it's a great brand name, sounds a bit like salmon from nigella

Is "slimming aids" pc?
Customers could be asked "How would you like your chicken cooked?" Medium rare is good

I'd been thinking about a slimming sub but have to admit that nothing like this passed through me. Inspired sub b-j. 5*

Great sub! I've often thought the 'raw pork and slimy prawn' diet was overlooked. Rancid fish speaks for itself.

Thank you all! I thought this was sinking without trace last night so it has cheered up my day today. Apologies for the bump, a piece of raw turkey should flatten it.
