Hi-tech home appliance company Dyson were today inundated with criticism as a woman announced that the DC22 Multi-floor cleaner she bought her husband for Christmas has mysteriously broken for the fifth time since giving it to him.
In her letter to the Guardian, Kimberley Morgan, 42 from Croydon, described the damage seen over the last fortnight as “disgraceful”. Her complaints included a cracked hose and smashed wheels, as well as two occasions where it had sucked up corrosive chemicals from a sealed bathroom cabinet. “I can’t believe Dyson would sell such shoddy merchandise. All my friends have Dysons but none of them have seen them develop a straight slice through the cable. It’s almost like someone’s taken a knife to it”.
A spokesman for Dyson issued a statement noting that the 5 year guarantee does not cover damage purposefully caused by the owner, an accusation that Mrs Morgan adamantly denies. The company are notorious for selling products without ensuring that all items are fully installed, including fans which were dispatched to stores without blades.
When questioned about the damage caused to the cleaner, Mr Morgan was especially angry about the situation. “She told me she bought the Dyson because I ‘like gadgets’ but it’s clear that she only wanted one to keep up with her mates. I wanted a Kindle or an X-Box for Christmas, not a fucking vacuum cleaner. If she doesn’t return that Dyson now and get me an iPhone I can only see it breaking again until she does.”
