You guys seen the whole row about Diane Abott's comment on Twitter? I think it's brilliant!
As a white person I can say that I'm not in the least bit offended by her remarks. Amused that a shadow minister can be so monumentally stupid yes, offended no.
I'm really starting to come round to Twitter, because it gives public figures the chance to demonstrate that they are complete and utter fools.

Brilliant! She makes Clarkson look well-balanced and thoughtful. Obviously, she should be crucified in Hyde Park for such a gaffe, flogging's too good for her. But as with Clarkson, the people that liked her will still like her, and the people that loathed her will still loathe her.
And I expect an anonymous hack will report her to the police, so they can get a few more column inches out of it.

By the look of her, I don't think she'd do very well in any kind of race.

Whilst the New Statemen are spinning this as "Let's not pretend that Diane Abbott's comments were genuine racism" every other news source seems to be going with the same stance without the "not" bit.
I'm no fan of her but isn't this just a massive fuss over nothing? I saw her trending on twitter and thought this was just a dull twitter story not a fucking bbc front page news item.
Maybe she could have used some of those other 74 available charectors to give a coherent explanaition of what she actually meant.

What I don't understand is why whenever someone says something along the lines of 'if a white politician had tweeted something moronic using the phrase 'black people' they would've been sacked instantly so why hasn't Abbott been?' they are then dogpiled and called racist.
Abbott also tweeted during the two minutes silence on Remembrance Sunday and once said white nurses weren't acceptable at her local hospital because they didn't know how to nurse black people.
I don't get why she wasn't canned a long time a go.
I might set up a PR company offering to vet people's tweets for them before they post them and make themselves look like a complete and utter moron.
I reckon there could be a lot of money in this, anybody interested in joining me?

Shitsu, it's because it seems that you can't be racist about white people.
When I was doing Sociology modules last year, I ended up harbouring racist thoughts, purely due to the imbalance of it all.
Because obviously it was my poor wee working class ancestors who single-handedly perpetuated the slave trade...

Also too much tosh being spoken about 'community'. I hate that word as it's always used to define people based on one characteristic as if sharing the same sexual orientation or skin colour or joy at dressing up as an elf and running about the woods on weekends entirely defines people and means that they must be united on all things.
'Family values' gets my goat too.

Whilst Ms Abbott's ancestors where at the wrong end of the white "divide and rule" shtick, mine were being shoved up chimneys to clean them out. I can't help feeling that she is, in fact, being held to a different (lower) standard. Next thing you know she'll be suggesting everyone should be sending their children to State Schools whilst she sends hers to a Public School.
I blame Global Climate Change.

The worst aspect is her massive lie that it was taken 'out of context'. It wasn't, she was stereotyping white people. It speaks volumes about her character and prejudices. The fat cow.
