John Motson, the BBC's most experienced football commentator, has admitted that he has resorted to making-up the names of foreign footballers because "They all sound a bit alike and no-body knows the difference, and anyway all the foreign managers do it anyway, just listen to Arsene Wenger if you want proof."
In tonight's match between Arsenal and Blackburn Motson admitted to referring to Andrey Arshavin as "Andyvin" and Sol Campbell as "Soapybell". "It's much easier" admitted Motson "As I managed to leave the team sheets in my sheepskin and because it's quite warm I left it in the car boot. And anyway no-one seems to notice so-long as it's near enough."
Motson did confirm that in his next commentary he would pay particular attention to the spelling and pronunciation of the players and venue "After all the Israel match is crucial and I can't wait to talk about how I enjoyed my experience of the West Bank."
