When's Clint Eastwood going to go? When he turns up at awards ceremonies he looks like a lost cleaner.

Like her or hate her, but at least she was elected by the full population of this country to run it. Arthur Scargill, er, wasn't.

    I beg to differ Sinnick.
She was certainly not elected by the full population of this country. If memory serves, then there was only ever one Tory MP in Scotland, that arch-numpty Sir Nicholas Fairbairn.

Due to the First Past The Post system, we had her foisted upon us for many year.

Yes...and as an act of revenge the Scots gave us Gordon Brown.

I do like it when a lady begs.

Margaret Thatcher was elected by the democratic system that was and still is in place, and it applies to the whole UK.

I agree that our version of democracy is shite, and that there's an argument for Scotland being determined differently, but these are different points.

I also think some of the hatred for her was intentionally engendered against her gender, rather than her policies. The 70's were only just starting to be genuinely liberal (small L, mind).

A socailist justifying an ethically dodgy product because he's making shit loads of money. Who does this t-shirt seller think he is? Tony Blair?

Possibly. Or because she was evil incarnate.

I think if Mrs Thatcher had employed Alastair Campbell she would be deemed to have been a great prime-minister now, not just in fifty years time.

Much of what she did was the medicine the nation needed. Unfortunately, she got a little bit Caesar towards the end, and never saw the need to polish her public persona.

Did anyone guess Andy Williams? One of the greatest singers ever.
I remember his show (I was little at the time), also featuring "The Cookie Bear"

@Sinnick - reather worryingly I recall the show. Thought then it was a rather poor attempt to match 'Rowan & Martin's Laugh in'

Meanwhile my nomination is a chap I'd have had a fiver on already being dead:

    Harry Belafonte

Edit: Just read the AW shuffled off story - thought he had a great voice

I'll take Cliff Richard. I haven't got any inside information, it's just wishful thinking.

As in accidentally, viciously beating himself to death with it?

Another candidate for the "I thought he'd gone years ago" award has just passed away. Actor Herbert Lom, most famous for the role of Chief Inspector Charles Dreyfus in the Pink Panther films has died at the age of 95.

His portrayal of Dreyfus trying to cope with the incompetent Clouseau was superb. The lines from the films are still quoted with alarming regularity at Totti Towers.
