Pope Benedict. He doesn't seem to be out and about much anymore. And Nancy Reagan unless she's already dead in which case not her.

Poor old Patrick Moore. Personally the only public figure this year that I'm genuinely sad to hear has died. His continued existence was one of curiously comforting nostalgic idiosyncratic Britishness that made all the purile shit and uncertainty of modernity almost bearable.

I had Patrick Moore from several months back. But I do worry about Scroat's predictive powers.

    I agree.
The degree of Scroat's predictive abilities far surpasses those of my phone.

ASTRONOMERS!! He hated astrology, saying it proved only one thing - there's a mug born every minute.

Also, " ... curiously comforting nostalgic idiosyncratic Britishness ..."

Great words Nowherefast, agree wholeheartedly, but he also insisted that he was English, not British!

    Great character, RIP.

I've been thinking of Kate Bush or maybe it was Cathy, "I've come home

He's got a lung infection so we whipped out some gall stones. hmmm. Sadly I doubt he'll be opening any Christmas cards. I hope I'm wrong.

I think Kate Bush is next Republican candidate for US president; she’ll probably win, too, with a name like that.

Hardly a euphemism, since this is from the same article: He retired to Cowes on the Isle of Wight where he ran an art gallery with his longtime partner Mark Fear.

Is it me, or are the BBC using that phrase as an euphemism for having an elegant sense of style?
