lives with his mates in a student house was alarmed to see a mouse in the kitchen yesterday, so he went to a hardware store to see if they sold mouse poison.
"Sorry mate, but we do sell rubber mallets" was the response followed by "Or you could just tread on it".

I hate mice.
We had a tiny mouse come into the house years ago.
We couldn't find him, only his droppings.
We put a plastic coke bottle in the kitchen with a bit of food in it for him every day. For a whole week, Rodrigo got free bed and breakfast, until finally he couldn't get out of his bottle again. (It was like Wayland's zoo in miniature!)
We then took him down to the behind the local Maccas and cut the top off the bottle, and set him free...
He never writes, he never phones. I fucking hate mice.

We had them in our student house. Our local hardware shop stocked mousetraps, but crap ones. Many a time I came downstairs in the morning nursing a hangover to find a tiny trail of blood leading a path across the kitchen floor to the still twitching body of a small rodent.

Peanut butter is the best bait for mice, try smearing it on the face of the mallet.
The 'humane' traps are good, but then you have to try and kill the mice by hand, I don't really see the point. It takes ages to beat them to death with a tea spoon.
Mouse Fact: Mice are not equipped with a sphincter.

We had a mouse a few weeks ago. We realised this when we found a half eaten custard cream in the kitchen one morning. There was also a load of mouse shit. We reckon it only ate half the custard cream because it was from Lidl (the custard cream, not the mouse).
Tried the humane traps but they didn't work. So we resorted to the bog standard traps that break their necks instantly. Unfortunately our mouse was a clever little bugger, and could get the bait(cheese... I know, I know stereotyping or what)out of the trap without setting it off. After three days of man versus mouse I resorted to lashing the cheese to the trap with some sewing thread.
Sayonara wee bastard.

I tried a humane trap but Mr. Squeeky was back in the house before me. Once I'd moved to a peanut butter baited killing trap I realised it wasn't the same mouse.

Forget about mice - what about rabbits? (not in the house I should say). The choice of veg. that Mrs 4fun was growing at 4fun Towers was so attractive that they got too lazy to limbo under the fence from the adjacent field and made a ***cking burrow in my garden. The bast****!
And don't get me started on the deer.

My neighbours had pet rabbits. Our houses back onto a golf course and it transpires that the groundsmen appear to have utilised mexamatosis to keep the greens rabbit free. Our neighbours no longer have pet rabbits. You don't read about that stuff in Watership Down.

We don't have any rabbits, other than our former pet which is buried in the garden.
We don't have deer any more either, since the adult male was killed by a car last year, just after the fawn was killed by a fox.
There are mice in the garage, but given that it's bloody freezing in there, I don't think they'll last long.
Foxes though, they breed like bloody rabbits around here.
