ELTON John has confirmed that he will fly to North Korea to play at the funeral of Kim Jong-il who died this week.
Elton has also revealed that he has re-written his Candle in the Wind classic for the occasion. Speaking from his New York penthouse apartment, he said: "I was approached yesterday by someone from the North Korean Government and was told that Kim loved my music and that his son Kim Jong-un wanted me to perform a version of Candle in the Wind at the service."
An official statement from The North Korean Government read yesterday:"Our Dear and Great Leader was a fan of Mr. Elton John and it would be a fitting tribute to the wonderful contribution and leadership by having Mr. John sing at the celebration of life. As you are already aware, Elton John was born in North Korea and is a wonderfully happy North Korean man and is proud to serve his country again."
