Commuters north of Watford are bracing themselves for trying conditions on the roads this week, as they battle to find a radio station that doesn’t bang on and on about a bit of snow in London.
Despite falling temperatures, dark mornings and seasonal weather, some people are still braving the roads to make their way about their normal business in even the remotest areas. But most are aware that just a flurry of sleet could bring all local news to a standstill.
“I guess we’ll struggle through”, said Jim Gaunt of Macclesfield, “I’ve got an emergency CD in the car, and some ear muffs if things get really bad. It hasn't even started yet but I'm already more than aware of how it could affect buses in Tottenham. I know I should feel sorry for Londoners affected by typical levels of precipitation, but part of me wonders why they don’t just take the Tube.”
