Congratulations to Des Custard of Tunbridge Wells who was the runaway winner of February's Writer of the Month, with a very impressive nine front pages, not to mention a NIB or two along the way. Des has been writing for NewsBiscuit for ages (remember how his classic 'French version of The Apprentice not allowed to fire contestants’ was reproduced word for word by Julia Hartley-Brewer in her Daily Express column?) But suddenly in 2010 he has gone into overdrive to produce a string of great stories back to back.
Among our favourites in the NewsBiscuit offices this month were 'The Who’s comeback concert marred by violence in stadium' and 'Bohemian couple ‘distraught’ after home smartened up by Facebook party gatecrashers'.
Des's name and biog will now be added to the hallowed list of Writers of the Month which has recently disappeared into hyperspace, but will surely turn up soon along with the Weapons of Mass Destruction and the 1982 log book to HMS Conqueror.
There were also strong performances this month from former winners jp1885, Oxbridge and Stoopy and potential future winner Ludicity (judging by his/her submissions already this month!)
Apologies once again for the on-going changes to the forums, log in problems, name issues and general annoyingness of everything looking so different. We all liked the idea of 'change' when Obama was running for office, but now actually it's happening, it's a different story.
