Solihull, West Midlands, Tuesday 6th December. The IPCC is investigating an allegation that an off-duty police officer negligently spilt a customer’s pint in The Shakespeare pub at around 2015 hours
“Any complaint against a member of the constabulary is taken very seriously” said an IPCC spokesman “and on Tuesday night it is alleged that an officer spilt a near full pint of Dr Thirsty that belonged to a Raymond Marr, 34 of Solihull. At the moment we are unsure if this was a wilful act or just negligence.
We can confirm that nine other spilt pints have now also been reported but it is unclear if the same officer has been involved in each incident
It is true that the IPCC has been accused of being overly zealous of anything that may put the Police force in a bad light but these incidents must be managed. The general public say that we are toothless and no output is ever seen, but only just this week, we have recommended that the entire Smallwood police station is prosecuted for dropping a half eaten cheese sandwich in to an incorrect recycling bin and we are confident that convictions will follow.
Similar incidents with crisp packets are under investigation but the current allegation of beer being spilled is the most serious I have seen in my 10 years with the IPCC”
Raymond Marr’s pint was unavailable for comment
