I always wondered what goes through people's head when they see satire? My experience is that only a small chunk of society really understand and appreciates satire.
For the majority who "don't get it" what is the reasoning? Do they see themselves within the group behind made fun of? So they chose not to laugh at themselves? Or is the abstraction too complex so they just don't get satire and think it is really juvenile? Your thoughts?
