   Er, Jeni, in S and W Yorkshire the word "chuffed" means "fucked", just slightly more polite. As in the expression: 'Oo the chuff did that ??

    I suppose that's why my Yorkshire relatives used to describe things as "Chuffing freezing!", "Chuffing awful." etc.

    I don't know much 'bout Yorkshire but I've never 'eard that 'bout the word chuffed a'ffor now. Where's thee proof Mr Cheshire man? (must take lessons in t'accent)

    Where I come from (Sussex) ‘chuff’ is used to refer to a ladies pleasure garden.
