Hello all. I'll be back in the UK for a few weeks in June, and would love to meet up with some fellow biscuits for a beer.

For maximum excitement my blushing fiancee and I are staying in Eastbourne on the south coast,
but London would be easy to get to, if that works for other people.

Sometime between Monday 21st and Sat 26th is probably best for me - who's up for it? What's a good day?

Hoorah! I'll be able to find out if you're all as witty and glamorous in real life as you appear in text form!

I'll be in Sawbridgeworth from the 18th to the 21st of June Rick. Apologies for my abysmal geographical knowledge, but is that near anyone else? I'll be there with Mr B and the YM for a family wedding on the Saturday, but arriving on the Friday.

And I'll save you the disappointment, by warning you in advance that, no, I'm not.

Hi Jeni - from memory, there are plentiful trains from Sawbridgeworth to London Liverpool Street station, taking only 41 minutes. So you're a maybe, I'd say.

    Bet you are.

    All depends...Whitfield or Sarpong?

There I go making a perfectly reasonable question seem sordid just because I can't be in attendance and so have to start acting up. Sorry Marjorie. Sorry everybody.

Who do we speak to about changing the colour of the gravatar thingies? We are beyond drab, you and I.

I'm guessing nice admin lady. I might keep mine for sentimental reasons -- the family car that took me to university was the colour of my gravatar. I believe the shade was called mushroom.

Want to get a 19-year-old boy to unpack a carload of books, guitars and cardigans in double quick time? Deliver him to his new halls in a mushroom coloured Lada.

As far as I recall Neal, Ladas only came in three colours - rusty red, rusty blue and mushroom.

My psychotic ex's dad drove a succession of Lada estates as work vans. The ex preferred to get the bus rather than accept a lift from his dad.

(The same ex, however, also preferred for me to take out a bank loan to go halves on a car, which at the time I couldn't drive, and which he kept when we split up. It shouldn't still bother me what a shit he was after 16yrs, but it does.)

Oooh oooh oooh me me me me! What fun Marj - I can see no lawful impediment to any of those days, although might I suggest it would be wise to avoid any potential football dates... Who am I kidding - we'll be two weeks in by then, England will be long gone.

Ah poo - I'm on holiday in Cornwall that week - one of my twice-yearly ventures out of the county.

Have a beer or two on my behalf though (oh, and maybe a kebab).

    (And a pizza)

Definitely. Beers in the beautiful South East, whether sandwiched between the highs of Brighton or the lows of Hastings, or more northerly in London would be great.

By the way, David Beckham lives in Sawbridgeworth. It is also very near the beautiful town of Harlow- one of the triumphs of Essex new town architecture.

Probably can't make it to Eastbourne, alas. London the travel's possible but it's so expensive. Boo-hoo.

Sauce - no-one should make it to Eastbourne, it's a terrible place. We'll meet up in London - hope you can make it there. Wouldn't be newsbiscuit without you!

Rick, I feel like you're an old drinking buddy already, so the reality could be a dreadful shock - for you at least. You can tell you're in the company of 'creatives': you asked for a suggested date and people have discussed anything but. How about Friday 25th as a suggestion to get the ball rolling. London will be teeming but Friday night after work is magical (provided you get out while you're ahead).

Oh don't be such a grump, Desy. Friday 25th sounds fab - I'm game as a partridge. And by then should also be fat as the Christmas turkey.

Thanks Des, for helping me gently steer this motley crew towards a boozer.

Friday 25th sounds smashing - the one caveat being that there's a second-round world cup match at 7:30 pm that night,
in which England may well play (it'll be the winners of England's frankly weak group vs Germany, Serbia or, amusingly, Australia).

Does anyone care? It might be awkward asking for the pub TV volume to be turned down as England vs Germany goes to penalties... :-) Or I may have got it wrong.

Looks like we've got the makings of an all-star biscuit lineup so far - Scroat, Evans, Sauce, Fernando, Cohen and Custard - and Jeni if she'll only extend her stay in the south a few days, and Mr Hack when he stops pretending to be where I am now - what a team!

Come on, you other regulars, you know who you are...

Chandos again? Just to be awkward, I'm good for the early part of that week but not the Friday.

Grump, Mary? Apart from the above good-natured posting, what have I said?? Perhaps I slagged off journalists or other kids' mums on these pages without realising it. Nope, just checked. Ah, it was the inverted commas on creatives I expect. Eggshells...mutter, mutter...

Rick, you must either be in financial services or have too much time on your hands if you're working out the World Cup permutations. But why don't you and the missus just come to my house on the Friday to watch it on the telly, and then you can stay the night and go to London on Saturday after a nice lunch. Or not. Whatever fits in with everyone (apart from Mary [I'll be in deep shit now]).

Feel better now, petal? Jolly dee. It was a joke, Des. We do that here, remember?

Eeeek - if it's potentially England v Germany, I should be shouting xenophobic abuse at the screen by my husband's side... Given Jen and Stan can do earlier in the week, should we go for Monday instead?

If it's during the working week in central London, then there's a chance that I could make it. Obviously I can't commit to anything this far in advance, as I've no idea what I'll be up to tomorrow even, let alone in several weeks time. Besides, there's always a chance that I'll receive a better offer between now and then anyway. ;o)

I can't promise to be there either, as it may be that we are travelling down on the Friday. If I can trust Mr B to be left in charge of the YM for the night, and persuade him that I am perfectly capable of travelling to a pub in London alone, then I'll be there.

I will ensure that I am there, regardless of the day.

    Re: venue

Chandos is good, but you have to specify whereabouts to meet in the packed pub.

There is a rather wonderful balcony at the Fetival Hall on the Southbank- see here for directions and a rare glimpse of me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1evfaWwrds

There is also a nice pub by the river near london Bridge called 'The Anchor'- http://www.pubs.com/main_site/pub_details.php?pub_id=21
