I can just see him stood in a shopping precinct or bus station with a placard saying "Do Geese actually wear jackets?" trying to hand out pamphlets to passers by.

I'm guessing they are Geordies because they fly here for a warmer winter so don't need jackets, just a place in their wing feathers to tuck a pack of 20 Regal.
