Despite electing Britain's first openly gay female political leader, three out of the four Scottish Conservative party members say they are ignorant about the lives of lesbians. In an unusually comprehensive poll, YouGov asked every member of the party about what they know. There were two outright don’t knows. Iain Neill, from Aberdeen, praised the relevance of Ruth Davidson's "Greek connections". Cameron Firth, from Lerwick said he intended to find out: “I asked my 15 year old nephew to look all this up up on the world wide net on his computer. Come to think of it that was three weeks ago and he still hasn’t got back to me.”
Only one member, Mrs Vera Duncan, expressed total certainty: "I have to confess, though, that I had no idea until the election. When Miss Davidson declared as a candidate I asked Mr Duncan that very question. What do they actually do? He told me in some detail. I was very interested, and tried it out with Mrs McDonald from the wool shop in Kirkcaldy, four or five times. I have to say it's been a complete revelation! I will definitely urge more women to join. "
