   "Out-of-control BBC admits it has ‘no idea’ how to finish EastEnders" would have made a fine FP. I feel its splendour should be marked.

   Or maybe it's just me that thinks EE should have been knocked on the head late '85...

   It should never have got off the ground in the first place.

   Am I the only woman in the UK who doesn't watch a single soap, and doesn't have a clue who any of the characters are?

   Mrs 4fun also fits into that category with you Jeni.

   But she does listen to The Archers every once in a while. Does that count? We treat it as an educational programme about the countryside.

   I did watch a few of the very earliest EE episodes until one evening I suddenly realised I was starting to care about the welfare of a dog on the show. Still sweat a bit thinking about that narrow escape.

   I hate it with a passion. The fact that people get paid to write that garbage, and others get paid to act it out, badly, really irritates me. But I do get quite irrationally angry about things sometimes.

   You're not the only woman, Jeni. I don't watch soaps. Haven't had a TV for years, don't watch anything, don't have a clue who anyone is. It's great.

   Though being a girl I did go to a friend's to watch William and Kate get married because I wanted to see the frocks and that.
