French President Nicolas Sarkozy was airlifted to hospital yesterday after being found sticking to the shoe of Prime Minister David Cameron.

“One minute he was there when we had the photo shoot, then the next thing I knew the little chap had disappeared,” said Mr Cameron.

Mr Sarkozy (56) died later from his injuries. His condition was described as “satisfactory.”

Cameron spent several minutes carefully picking bits out of the tread of his shoe with a stick only occasionally stopping to gag or offer it to the nose of Chancellor Merkel for a smell check.
