Media pundits were shocked today when BBC Radio 4’s flagship news programme ‘Today’ handled a science feature seriously. In contrast to the usual flippant, condescending, dismissive ‘nobody needs to know this stuff apart from nerds’ attitude reserved for science-based content, the feature about subatomic physics was treated with the hushed reverence and respect usually reserved for conceptual artists and dancers.
The humanities graduates who run and present the programme, many of whom gained a first in ‘reading aloud’ at Oxford, or an ‘Art history’ 2.2 at Lambeth Poly, appear to have been genuinely respectful of the leading scientists being interviewed.
“We don’t normally interview scientists who might make our listeners feel stupid”, said Evan Davis. “After all, that’s Stephen Fry's job” added John Humphreys.
Nah, just kidding, they were being twats as usual.

If it wasn't for the ready availability of History of Art degrees our monarchy would look as though they were, essentially, quite a stupid bunch of Krauts.
