Thieves have made away with an estimated $393m following an audacious 3rd quarter raid on the investment bank Gringotts Goldman Sachs.
The announcement brought uproar outside the global headquarters of Judao-Goblinite money-hoarding, which is located near the intersection of Knockturn Alley and Diagon Alley.
CEO Lloyd Blankcheque is said to be 'fuming' at the loss, although a formal statement is yet to be released.

we see so little out and out racism on here these days, that its quite surprising to find out that there are still SOME anti-semites contributing to this board.

hmm, not really satire though, is it? just linking money hoarding with jews is more like racism, and lazy racism at that.
as for sensitive, not me, i dont like the christ killers one little bit, but then, i dont like christians, muslims, buddhists(zen or otherwise), hindus, wiccans, druids, welsh methodists or atheists at all either.
(apologies to any religious group left out, i dont like you either!)

Oh well, so be it. I'd always found it curious why there was never any 'outrage' over J K Rowling's obvious Jewish/Goldman Sachs description of the banking goblins.
Perhaps not exactly satire, you're right. More like suggesting the shock $393m loss which GS recorded yesterday was actually a bank robbery at Gringotts.
Why is it racist to link Jewish people with money hoarding? They certainly seem to do it rather effectively at Goldman Sachs. Besides, Judaism is a religion - not a race.

why is it racist to link money hoarding with jewish people? well, it is one of the great"truths" about jews, is it not, that they are lovers of money, and not exactly generous with it? small "truths" like these were the foundation of the nazis final solution, "the jews are to blame for the depression", "the jews have all the money and power, THATS why you ordinary germans are starving!" etc etc.

Oh yes Greencross, we were talking about what Arthurminnit called the "great truths" about Jews. Speaking as an (as you put it) "Judao-Goblinite" I want to defend, at all costs, your right to free speech. Don't be embarrassed.
By attempting some "Jewish humour" or humour associated with Jews, you are aspiring to join great company. Philip Roth, Groucho Marx, SJ Perelman, Woody Allen, Lenny Bruce et al. Matt Lucas, David Baddiel, whatever. And fortune favours the brave! Trouble is, we Judao-Goblinites, we do genuinely want our pound of flesh. (Great pic by the way, says it all, that you included that) Yes, we want the money shot. Value. We drive a hard bargain, believe me.
So, forgive me if this next bit sounds, as Arthurminnit put it "not exactly generous." You ask: "Why is it racist to link Jewish people with money hoarding?" I say It isn't! What you have to do, though, and here's the deal, is you have to do it in a way that is funny. Which in the company of Marx, Allen, etc is a toughie. But that is the goal you set yourself. Me, I stay away from Jewish humour, except when absolutely necessary. Too rich for my blood.

Thing is, it's more about the behaviour of Israel than having a go at Jews. I think most subjects are acceptable, but you have to be quite careful.

This site us awesome for producing really off-the-wall stuff and more eccentric takes on topical stuff. I chuck stuff 'over there' to see if I can manage more traditional satire. I enjoy writing it, love the time pressure (you've got to be bang on topical) but Newsbiscuit is unique, especially as far as feedback is concerned.
Pretty sure you're allowed to sub to more than one place. I'm pretty sure Newsbiscuit was getting sick of the number of subs I write anyway.
I agree with wayland. Its all about context. I think we have all done it at some point or other, here or in real life
From your earlier reason i think in your head you have reasoned that in harry potter there is a jewish slant on gringotts and that has similarities to GS, therefore making the jewish connection works. But as that is not really hinted at in the sub, the remarks seem gratuitous, as the reader lacks the context of your thoughts. Thats my opinion anyway.
What does not help is peoples comments bumping it back to the top. Sorry
