The UK analogue TV signal is to be turned off in October 2012 with Northern Ireland to be last area to switch to digital. The Isle of Wight is expected to start receiving television signals by September 2015 when the BBC starts broadcasting Bill and Ben to the island.

Certain parts of the island (walking distance of ferry terminals) are already enjoying TV programmes in colour by virtue of the popular videocassette loan scheme.

And how pray are IoW residents to fuel TV sets or watch Betamax videocassettes when they havent even found a way of transporting electricity through the Solent yet?
