In 1923, the Ottoman Empire, which has lasted for over 600 years, finally fell. However, many are unaware of the attempts of 1970's French disco duo "Ottawan" to re-establish this cruel regime. Subtly renamed, they tried to lure their way into the people's psyche with their catchy debut hit "D.I.S.C.O", which stood for "Direction Involvement in the Systematic Comeback of Ottoman". Rather than the song being about a young girl who was super-sexy and such a cutie, it was in fact advocating the mass cull of republican supporters in Turkey.
Their manta became less veiled with the release of their second single "Hands Up", a disguised cry to surrender where they implored people to give them their hearts, presumably a call to devotion to the re-emerging superpower. However, falling record sales meant that they were dropped by their record company before their planned 3rd single; "Death to the Republican Scum (Fatboy Slim Remix)" could hit the shops. The duo still continue their war for hearts and minds in 70's nostalgia cabaret shows across the UK.
