Liam Fox today questioned the reporting of a buggery burglary which took place in his flat around the time of the General Election.
“My wife was stranded in Hong Kong due to the volcanic ash incident and a friend was staying in my flat to console me” he said.
“I am buggered if I know why the press thought I was alone” he continued, “I made it clear at the time that I am happily married and was alone in bed at the time of the incident. I would also like to make it clear that the young man collecting rent, only stayed in the guest room on my advice, due to the fact that Tower Bridge was up all night”.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner (at the time) Sir Paul Stephenson said he was sorry the shadow defence secretary had suffered such a "heinous offence by the hands of a stranger".
