In a biased news story yesterday, the BBC caused a furore by claiming that Big Ben is leaning to the right.
Labour spokesman Timothy Tide disputes the report and claims that “from my view point, it leans to the left and always has done. The BBC is supposed to be a non political, unbiased organisation which historically, has always quite rightly, leaned to the left, as should Big Ben”.
No coalition spokesman was available to comment but a close friend claiming to be a ministerial advisor and best man said, “they are wavering between both viewpoints, depending on ones standing on any particular day, a full and open debate is the only way forward”.
Ken Livingstone has uncharacteristically jumped on the bandwagon and has issued a statement “It would appear that if viewed from Westminster Bridge, yes Big Ben does lean to the right. In a modern democracy this state of affairs cannot continue so when I am next elected Mayor of London, I shall have the bridge dismantled so Big Ben can only be viewed from the opposite side”.
