It has been revealed today that two men from Denver who drove around with their friend's dead corpse in the back of the car, using cash withdrawn from the dead man's account for a spending spree had been watching 1989 film 'a weekend at Bernie's' previous to the events. The man's body was finally discovered by a friend at his home, propped up by a broom in an armchair with the TV remote sellotaped to his hand pointing towards the screen.
'At first I didn't realise there was a problem, I just sat down on the sofa,' explained James Elworth who discovered the corpse, 'It wasn't until X factor came on and he didn't immediately change the channel that I realised something wasn't right'.
The two men were apprehended later on when they flagged down a police car and explained to the officer where there friend was and that they thought he might have died, a bit.
'In my mind, I wanted to believe he had just passed out,' Mr Young, 43, told the officer, 'we were having such a great night, and it would be a shame for it to be cut short. He wouldn't have wanted us to stop having fun just because he had ceased to breathe'.
There was, at first, debate over whether it was the original film or the sequel that the pair had been watching previous to the events but this was cleared up when a constable pointed out that 'It couldn't be the sequel, no one in their right mind would think they could get away with that plot'.
