Are you deliberately winding people up with this Mr B?

I wish I was. Bugger! I never actually thought about coming across as a grammatical (grammatic?!) pedant. Truth be told, it was only in my head because after many years of trying, I have finally grasped the apostrophe conundrum.

Or possibly not quite in this instance. It's a pronoun thing. Doesn't particularly matter round here anyway; ask rikkor. Keep up the funny writing, and don't mind me.

This will all end in tears before bedtime. You mark my words.

It's like texting - it's so easy to misunderstand. I now realise my repost looks like an angry one, which it wasn't. Oh dear. I'll by Des some Apple pie, and It'll all be good.

You're missing the point MB. I didn't find your repost to be angry and I'm not cross at all, but I'll accept the apple pie offer if it's still going. I was merely pointing out originally that your headline was wrong (it's "its" when used possessively) and wondering if it was intentionally wrong to get the real pedants going. In my follow up comment I was trying to make this clearer but failed, but was also trying to say you can get away with it round here because we're all friends and it's more important to be funny than correct. Scroat, on the other hand, is being a provocative Northerner and must not on any account get any of that apple pie.

It is?

Ah. Ok. Yes, it was deliberate, hence the 'Personal' bit as 'It' finally feels like a person after years of neglect and no possessive apostrophe. So it was really happy that it could have one, even if it was for one sentence. The pie offer is still going, because it provides a perfect excuse for me to buy one. The logistics will have to be worked out at a later date.

I'll take some unrefrigerated postal pie. We are talking desert pie here, I assume, not some weird pork-and-apple dealy?

Pork and apple pie is a delight! But no, we were talking the sweet kind. This is going to be some trip. Anything else whilst I'm out?

I think Scroat's prediction is coming true - tears being shed (shod? shewn?) about pie now.
Posted 3 years ago # -
I didn't mean it Scroat. You can have my pie if you like.

:o)

Can I have pie's and chip's?
Posted 3 years ago # -
Ooh, I like pie's lot's.

You'll have the Four Horsemen of the Apostrophe after you...

Do you want mince or steak pie?

Who's eaten all the pies?
