The Football Association has completed the purchase of animator Bricksports, creators of Legofussball, to ensure that no matter what happens on the pitch, England will be remembered as the winners of Euro 2012.
"Very few people watch entire football matches any more," said an FA spokesman. "But millions look at the highlights created by Legofussball and believe it is the real thing."
"We will be able to create games that are much more exciting than the real thing, and of course we will be able to beat Germany in the final."
For its part, Legofussball said it was delighted with the deal.
"The English style is very suited to Legofussball," a Bricksports company executive confirmed. "Not much player movement, just long kicks of the ball, makes it easy for our designers."
"As part of our FA deal we are upgrading our England player figurines, including painting hair on the Rooney figurine. Everything should be ready for the finals next year."
