Budget time-travel operator EasyTime has opened a new timeport in 2011. But while it may be good news for local businesses, the tourists from the future are frequently disappointed with its lack of proximity to major world events in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.
Many time travelers arriving in 2011 are surprised to learn that it's a decade away from the World Trade Center attacks in 2001, and 18 long years away from the first contact with alien lifeforms - a popular destination for tourists from the future.
"The EasyTime ads would have you believe that 2011 is on the doorstep of major historical events, but when you get here, it's basically just the London Olympics - and even those are a year away," said George Babcock from AD 3286.
Other passengers were unhappy with the service EasyTime provides. "The staff treat you like livestock, the food is terrible, there's no legroom ... And once you get here, you realize you're years from anything interesting," said Eva Dorey, who had travelled all the way from 6448.
An EasyTime spokesperson defended the company's use of the 2011 timeport, saying that it offered unbeatable value for the budget time traveller and that there were "good onward links" to more interesting years.
