In a bold move, newly appointed Apple chief Tim Cook today announced that the hotly rumoured iphone5 was in fact the iphone6.
"It was developed as the iphone5 but towards the end of the development cycle, it occurred to us that going from 4 to 5 sounded like something a competitor would do. We decided to take it to the next level by renaming it 6."
The move has dismayed Apple's many competitors. Said one, "Everybody was going to buy an iphone5 anyway because it was one phone better. Now it's the iphone6 so it's two phones better. They've skipped a whole generation of technological advancement. We're not able to compete with this sort of unprecedented forward thinking."
The chief difference between the iphone4 and the iphone6 has been confirmed as the number in the product's name.
