The makers of L’Oreal anti-ageing beauty cream have recalled all remaining stocks from the shelves after some users of the product complained they had become targets for paedophiles and child sex offenders.
Reports indicate the anti-ageing cream has proved so effective in combating the skin’s natural ageing process amongst middle aged women that many are now being mistaken for children as young as 10-12 years old.
The Paris based company responded by saying they could not be held responsible for the attention some users of the product had received from known child sex offenders as their adverts stated quite clearly the cream was guaranteed to make them look years younger.
A survey carried out by Beauty Magazine found that 8 women out of 10 all agreed the cream had made them recent targets for paedophile gangs.
One 57 year old from Bromley in Kent, who had only been using the ageing cream for six weeks told police she had been approached by a man in the street who ticked her off for not wearing her school uniform and then offered her sweets and a puppy if she would get in the back of his transit van.
Another said she had been followed home by two men posing as Truant Officers after buying a range of L’Oreal beauty products from her local chemist.
Police have issued a warning about the over use of anti-ageing cream products after some women admitted to using the products several times a day.
‘When you see how much beauty cream these middle aged women use then it’s no wonder some of them are being approached by child sex offenders. One bathroom cabinet we came across had ageing creams designed exclusively for night time use, another one for daytime use and another just for around the eyes.
We realise for some of them it’s the only chance they’ll ever get to have a warm, tacky residue rubbed in their face but over use is still irresponsible’.
Police in Bromley are searching for a man in his 30s, medium height, driving a white transit van who may be missing a puppy.
